Current Advances in Cotton Seed Biology

Cotton, often called “white gold”, is one of the most critical and economically significant crops worldwide. Its profound influence extends beyond textiles, reaching into agriculture, economies, and sustainability efforts on a global scale. Cotton research plays a pivotal role in unraveling the complexities of this versatile crop, offering solutions to pressing challenges and shaping the future of agriculture.

We are excited to announce the upcoming launch of a Special Issue dedicated to Cotton Research in Seed Biology. This Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive platform for researchers, scholars, and experts in the field of cotton biology to showcase their latest findings and advancements.

We invite you to contribute your original research, reviews, and perspectives to this Special Issue. Manuscripts addressing, but not limited to, the following topics are particularly encouraged:

● Genetic and epigenetic regulation of cotton seeds and fiber development;

● Genetic and epigenetic regulation of gossypol and lipids synthesis in cotton seeds;

● Environment and genetics interactions that influence cotton seeds/fibers growth and development;

● Genomic and population genetic studies on key agronomic traits in cotton seeds and fibers;

●Emerging technological innovations such as omics approaches (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, phenomics), remote sensing, and precision agriculture etc., offer new ways to understand and develop improved crop management techniques.
