Integrated Perspectives on Fungal Biodiversity in Different Ecotypes and Sustainable Utilization
Celebrating the 70th birthday of Emeritus Prof. Kevin D. Hyde and honoring his contributions to Asian Mycology
Dear Colleagues,
It is our pleasure and privilege to honor Professor Kevin David Hyde on the occasion of his 70th birthday through a dedicated special issue in Studies in Fungi. Prof. Hyde is among the most distinguished mycologists globally, celebrated for over three decades of outstanding international contributions to fungal research.
Throughout his extensive career, Prof. Hyde has significantly advanced the fields of fungal taxonomy, biodiversity and plant pathology, especially in Southeast Asia. His prolific scholarly output, comprising more than 700 scientific publications, reflects his deep-seated passion and holistic approach toward fungi and emphasizes his key role in enhancing our understanding of fungal diversity and ecology.
This special issue invites contributions that utilize an integrated systematic approach to explore fungal biodiversity. Although a single compilation cannot fully capture the extensive impact of Prof. Hyde on mycology, we hope this collection will illustrate his broad interests, highlight the significant role fungi play in society, and provide appreciation and recognition fitting his extraordinary scientific career.
